Abdulrahman Kalbat


Abdulrahman Kalbat is an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University since 2016. He received his Bachelor degree from UAE University in 2011 and his Master degree from Columbia University in the City of New York in 2013 both in Electrical Engineering. He obtained his Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in the City of New York in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Javad Lavaei. He was a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at UC Berkeley from September 2015 to February 2016. He was a visiting scientist in the Intelligent Systems Division in NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field in California from June 2011 to August 2011. Abdulrahman Kalbat works on various interdisciplinary problems in control theory, optimization, power systems and distributed computation. During his master and Ph.D studies, he was the recipient of the UAE University National Teaching Assistant Program scholarship from 2011 to 2016. In recognition of his exceptional performance during his graduate studies, he received an award from UAE University and Sheikh Rashid Award for Scientific Outstanding in 2016 and 2018, respectively. He was selected as an affiliate of Mohammed bin Rashid Academy of Scientists in 2017. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).
